Washington Memorial Pipe Band
The Washington Memorial Pipe Band was founded in 1939 in Ardmore, Pennsylvania and is one of the oldest pipe bands in America.
The band has made a home at Valley Forge Military Academy & College, through the generosity of RADM Peter A. C. Long and the VFMA&C Board of Trustees. The band meets on campus each week for rehearsals and instructional sessions.
The Pipe Band maintains a busy schedule of parades and concerts across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland. It also actively competes at Highland games regularly held throughout the United States.
In August 1998 the band had the honor to be the first American pipe band to participate in the International Bagpipe Festival in Strakonice, Czech Republic.
Together with the VFMA&C Regimental Band, the Washington Memorial Pipe Band celebrated the turn of the millennium with a tour of parades and concerts in the United Kingdom.
The Washington Memorial Pipe Band is dedicated to presenting the very best in Highland piping and drumming, as well as to the preservation and promotion of this wonderful musical form, and to the cultivation and teaching of new players of all ages and abilities.
